California Residents to Receive $500 a Month Payments: Do You Qualify?
California is rolling out a new guaranteed income initiative aimed at alleviating poverty and supporting vulnerable residents. The Fresno Economic Opportunities Commission (EOC) is launching the Advancing Fresno County Guaranteed Income program, which will provide $500 per month for 12 months to selected households in central California’s Fresno County.
Valley Animal Center asking for donations after multiple air conditioning units fail
A local animal shelter is in urgent need of replacing three of its failed air conditioning units.The Valley Animal Center says the units broke and are crucial for cooling the low-cost clinic, which provides vital care to the center's animals and local pets.The shelter is raising $10,000 - $20,000 per unit to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for the animals.Portable A/C units are being used to try to keep the space cool.The clinic and its medications have been moved to another smaller building that houses the surgery center but the modification is causing operations to be cramped.If you would like to donate, click here.

Thousands evacuate season's biggest wildfire in northern California
A huge, fast-moving and rapidly growing wildfire in northern California has forced more than 4,000 people to evacuate as firefighters battle gusty winds and perilously dry conditions, authorities said Friday. A total of 4,000 people have evacuated the towns of Cohasset and Forest Ranch, plus an additional 400 from the small city of Chico.

Grass fire shuts down part of Highway 99 in Fresno County
A grass fire forced the closure of a portion of Highway 99 in Fresno County on Friday night.The video above is from an earlier story and will be updated.The fire was burning along the highway near Central Avenue.The California Highway Patrol says all northbound lanes were closed at Central due to the flames.Traffic was backed up for miles in the southbound lanes due to the closure.Investigators have not yet shared any details about how the fire started.
