Inmates in Texas state prisons are being "cooked alive" by scorching temperatures in facilities without air conditioning, a new investigation claims. Documents obtained by The Texas Newsroom, a public radio collaboration of multiple Texas stations, showed that even as inmates died with body temperatures nearing 107 degrees, officials have continued to blame their deaths on causes other than extreme heat.

Samsung supplier to build $175M plant in Taylor
Soulbrain TX, LLC, a South Korean manufacturing company, announced it will invest $175 million into opening a phosphoric acid facility to help with Samsung's nearby semiconductor fabrication plant in Taylor. According to a news release, the City of Taylor and the Taylor Economic Development Corporation (TEDC) reached an agreement with Soulbrain on this initial investment as well as the promise for the plant to create a minimum of 50 jobs.
