    Kingsport announces road closures for July 4 parade

    KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL) — The City of Kingsport announced road closures for the city’s Independence Day celebrations.

    In order to accommodate the Mack Riddle American Legion Independence Day Parade, which begins at 10 a.m., the following roads will be closed starting the morning of July 4 until the parade is finished:

    • Center Street from Sullivan Street to Fort Henry Drive
    • Fort Henry Drive from Center Street to Eastman Road
    • Wilcox Drive will be closed at Sevier Avenue

    The parade will go down Center Street from Wateree Street to Memorial Park on Fort Henry Drive.

    According to the city, detour routes will be set up for drivers on Sevier Avenue, Watauga Street, and Sullivan Street.

    Streets leading into Center Street along the parade route will be closed as needed.

    The city’s annual Red, White, and Boom event will take place Saturday on Main Street beginning at 5 p.m. and concluding with a fireworks display around 9:45 p.m.
