KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL) – One of the oldest golf courses in the area continues to get better, as the 75th annual Ridgefields Invitational approaches at the end of the month.

Course officials have been working on the greens and sand traps to make sure the tournament remains one of the best in the region.

“This is my favorite one,” two-time Ridgefields champion and course superintendent Lucas Armstrong said. “It’s always been. I mean, even back when my dad was playing, they had a ton of people coming in from out of town playing here.

“And it’s always been a Tennessee Point event,” he added. “And it’s really fun. That’s how I enjoy it.”

“We’re getting a really good response this year,” Ridgefields Golf Course owner Stan Pace explained. “I think one of the reasons is, I think the word’s out about the condition of the course and the consistency. I want to talk about the consistency of it. It’s not just this week or a month ago. It’s the consistency of how the course is staying now.”

The tournament will be held from July 26-28 at Ridgefields Golf Course in Kingsport
