KINGSPORT – Southern Appalachian Medical Management (SAMM), a steadfast  supporter of the local community, is proud to announce a generous donation of $25,000 to  Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee. This contribution is a testament to our  ongoing commitment to addressing regional food insecurity and supporting those in need.

The generous donation from the surgeons of Southern Appalachian Medical Management  will have a profound impact on the community. It will enable Second Harvest Food Bank to  continue providing nutritious food to individuals and families in need across Northeast  Tennessee, expanding its reach and ensuring more people can access healthy meals.

“We are humbled and honored to support Second Harvest Food Bank in their mission to  fight hunger and improve the well-being of our community,” said Dr. T. Lisle Whitman, President of Southern Appalachian Medical Management.

“Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee serves thousands of individuals each  month through its network of partner agencies, mobile pantries, and direct distribution  programs. The organization’s success in fulfilling its mission of ending hunger in the region  is greatly dependent on the support and donations from the community,” said Rhonda  Chafin, Executive Director of Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee. “This  contribution will make a significant difference in our efforts to provide food and hope to  those who need it most. Together, we can create a stronger, healthier community. “We are  incredibly grateful for the generous donation from the local orthopedic surgeons of SAMM.

“At SAMM, we believe Second Harvest aligns with our goal of better health outcomes for  our region. While the focus of SAMM is specifically in the musculoskeletal realm, as  physicians, we know that nutrition is a foundation of all health,” Whitman said.
