UPDATED: Arkadelphia city board gives Good Ole Boys nod to rezone planned subdivision
In an extremely brief meeting Tuesday evening, the Arkadelphia Board of Directors approved a new residential area for the city. City Manager Gary Brinkley said the Planning and Zoning Committee had, on Monday, approved the addition of 31.72 acres off of W.P. Malone Drive north of Arkadelphia High School. Known as South Ridge Crossing, the residential area will be zoned R-1 for housing.
Stuttgart City Council finalizes lease for automated garbage truck; residents raise concerns over gas tank placement
The Stuttgart City Council finalized the lease of an automated garbage truck during Tuesday’s regular council meeting, where all aldermen were in attendance. The council voted unanimously to approve Resolution 2024-05, finalizing the lease of a 2024 Peterbilt truck with a 20-yard New Way Cobra. The new truck will cost $235,000, with 24 monthly lease payments of $3,764.56 and a balloon payment of $169,000. The lease rate is 5.78 percent. The truck was first approved earlier this year when the city decided to switch to trash bins and an automated truck.
