National Weather Service recaps Wednesdy morning floods
Wednesday’s rainfall led to records broken and various portions of the Twin Lakes Area flooded. At KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot, the official reporting station for the National Weather Service in Mountain Home, 2.97 inches of rain were recorded at 7 Wednesday morning from the previous 24-hour period. That shattered the previous mark of 1.2 inches in 1964. Since 7, an additional .52 of an inch of rain have been measured with a small possibility of more coming. For the month, the total precipitation so far is 8.61 inches, making it the third wettest July on record.

HOXIE, Ark. (KAIT) - The food pantry at First Baptist Church in Hoxie is in desperate need of a new distribution building. The food pantry has been going on for many years and has grown significantly. In the last few years it has gone from serving about 120 families to about 250 to 300, and in some instances, nearly 500 families.

Missouri sees danger of industrial food waste
Gov. Mike Parson of Missouri recently signed legislation banning industrial food waste from Arkansas food processing plants. Waste from Arkansas can include offal, blood and grease, an estimated at 200,000 tons per year, being spread as fertilizer on pastures and farms in Missouri. The ban is related to concerns about runoff contaminating water.
