KINGSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A local fire department is getting some fresh gear to serve its community. The Kingston Forty Fort Fire Department has a new ladder truck in service.

Stretching 100 feet tall, the ladder can reach the upper floors of many buildings to better fight fires.

The vehicle also comes with a 2000-gallon-per-minute pump, a first for the department.

“First of all, it’s got a pump on it which is gonna be critical to our operations, how we operate here. It has a pump which carries a hose, which our current ladder does not. Basically, any fire we have this truck will be used whether it be for ladders whether it be for equipment whether it be for water, but any fire we have this truck will be the first due on the scene,” said Kingston Forty Fort Fire Department Chief Frank Guido.

The $1,900,000 truck was paid for with a grant from Luzerne County American Rescue Plan Act funds.
