    Gas leak evacuates six homes in Kingston

    KINGSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A gas leak in Kingston Tuesday morning caused six homes to be evacuated.

    Kingston and Forty Fort Deputy Fire Chief tell 28/22 News that a gas leak occurred in the area of 2nd Avenue around 10:40 a.m. where natural gas was discovered to be blowing out of the roadway and hitting a home.

    UGI shut the gas off and six homes were evacuated as a precaution. Hose lines have been placed to keep the neighborhood safe.

    “We arrived we found natural gas under pressure blowing out of the roadway, hitting the home. Needless to say, that is a very serious danger,” said Kingston/Forty Fort Deputy Fire Chief Floyd Young.

    At this time, it’s unclear when the road will be re-open and how many customers were impacted.

    Crews say the leak is under control and they are unsure when 2nd Avenue will reopen.
