The Maryland Natural Resources Police (NRP) used the busy Fourth of July weekend this year to send boaters a clear message about drinking and driving on the water. NRP heightened their enforcement from July 4-6 during “Operation Dry Water” and made nine arrests for Operating While Under the Influence of Alcohol (OUI). The Bristal All-Stars, softball players in their 80’s and 90’s who play two doubleheaders a week in the New York Senior Softball Association (NYSSA) held their annual All-Star game at Cangtiague Park in Hicksville. The players who range in age from 80 to 93, and reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens commemorated the 55h anniversary of the 1969 World Series between the New York Mets and the Baltimore Orioles.

Cecil County Sheriff's Office sergeant facing theft charges
ELKTON — A Cecil County Sheriff’s Office sergeant is facing criminal charges for allegedly failing to report to work without proper leave on several days over a one-and-a-half-year period and for “numerous incidents of unauthorized overtime hours,” translating to an overall theft of nearly $10,000, the agency reported Thursday. Harford County correctional officer indicted on theft, forgery charges
BEL AIR — A Harford County grand jury has handed up an indictment against a suspended Harford County Sheriff’s Office correctional officer who is accused of stealing money from a woman by forging one of her checks, police reported. The suspect — Shawn Forton, 40 — is charged with felony theft of more than $1,500 and three forgery-related counts, two of which also are felonies, according to Harford County Circuit Court records.
