Former WVU shooter Mary Tucker takes aim at the gold in Paris
CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A National Champion shooter at West Virginia University will make a second attempt at shooting for gold in the upcoming Paris Olympic Games. Mary Tucker, who spent her last two seasons of NCAA Rifle in Morgantown, will shoot the smallbore, air rifle, and mixed team events at the Paris games. It’s Tucker’s second Olympics. She qualified for all three events in Tokyo as well.

WVU’s golf program will be well represented at this year’s U.S. Amateur Golf Championship. West Virginia native Todd Duncan became the third Mountaineer golfer to qualify for the sport’s top amateur event. Duncan shot -5 (65) in the first and only round of the Southeastern Amateur qualifying tournament at Country Club of Columbus golf course in Columbus, Georgia.

Fairmont State University has plans for nearly $7 million in congressional directed spending
FAIRMONT, W.Va. — Fairmont State University will receive $6.89 million in federally directed spending to go towards three improvement projects. The offices of U.S. Senators Joe Manchin and Shelley Moore Capito announced that the university will receive Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) funds to support upgrades to the nursing program facilities, library renovations, and campus security system improvements.

Vienna murder suspect arrested in Harrison County
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - According to our affiliate WTAP a suspect in a Vienna murder investigation has been arrested in Harrison County. Hearl Collins was located in Harrison County and arrested without incident according to Vienna Police Chief Carl Powell. This morning at 5:45 A.M. Vienna Police obtained a warrant for Hearl T. Collins. The Vienna Police Department is investigating an unattended death, this according to Police Chief Carl Powell.
