KINSTON, N.C. (WNCT) — A Florida man is facing charges after officials said he was wanted for stealing things from a business and then led law enforcement on a chase.

Kinston police said Junior James Simmons, 24, of St. Petersburg, Fla., led law enforcement on a chase into Greene County before he was captured. The chase began after a report of a larceny from the Piggly Wiggly on North Heritage Street.

The chase also involved the Kinston Police Department, Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office, Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Snow Hill Police Department and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. During the chase, officials said Simmons used his vehicle to strike a Kinston Police Officer’s vehicle in an attempt to avoid capture.

The chase continued to Snow Hill, where he was apprehended without causing any further injury.

The investigation is currently ongoing. A list of charges will be announced at a later date.
