WATSONVILLE, Calif. (KION-TV)- On Wednesday, The Pajaro Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees approved a $315 million bond that will head to the November 2024 election.

The district is trying to fund upgrades such as repairs and other construction projects between all 33 of their campuses.

The full list of projects has not been revealed yet, but district officials have included project ideas such as housing for teachers and a performing arts facility for Pajaro Valley High School.

"We had a great presentation in the board meeting last night that demonstrated the need for our schools as well as hopeful projects that we are look at going forward," Pajaro Valley Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Heather Contreras said. "I think it would be a huge benefit to our schools and our facilities and we're really looking forward to hoping to see that on the ballot and hoping it will pass."

If the measure does pass in November, it will still be below the $1.2 billion the district needs to fully fund repairs at all of their schools. That estimate is according to the district's latest draft facilities master plan.
