MONTEREY, Calif. (KION-TV)- A Solano County inmate who has been on the run since May 13 was arrested in Monterey on Saturday afternoon according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

According to the CDCR, 36-year-old James Xiong was apprehended and arrested by Monterey Police. Officers were required to use physicals force and tasered him in order to take Xiong into custody.

Investigators said that Xiong escaped the Delta Conservation Camp in Solano County on May 13.

Our CBS affiliate in San Francisco said that Xiong did not report for work that morning which prompted a search of the grounds.

In 2015, Xiong was sentenced to serve a six-year sentence for first degree robbery and a three-year concurrent sentence for vehicle theft with a prior felony conviction.

CDCR said that Xiong was on parole in 2019.

Xiong was taken to the Correctional Training Facility in Soledad and will be referred to the Solano County District Attorney's Office for possible escape charges.
