SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Starting June 3, Governor Newsom's campaign to speed DMV services in the state will take effect, moving many simple services online.

This is an ongoing effort by Newsom's team to shorten wait times in the state's DMV offices. They're hoping that in total, this could potentially reduce office visits by 200,000 customers per month, or 2.4 million trips in a year.

"The state is increasing government efficiency and continuing to deliver critical services for Californians," Newsom said in a press release. "As part of these efforts, we are making more resources available at peoples’ fingertips and offering a faster and easier online experience at the DMV."

The state is making it easier for Californians to access the DMV by bringing more services online. Over the past few years, the DMV has digitized many services, improved efficiency and made more than 90% of transactions available online. The DMV is also now offering an improved online customer experience that is faster, easier, and can be personalized.

If it’s going to on-line, then I suggest laying off all California DMV employees and shut down all DMV offices to help with the state deficit.
