Kaiser Permanente comes to Monterey County offering healthcare and medical services

SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Kaiser Permanente announced Thursday that it will be increasing community healthcare in the Northern Monterey County area.

Beginning this summer, Kaiser Permanente will offer enrollment on commercial health plans that will become available in 2025. The company cited the recent decision being from community demand by current and prospective members.

"We are excited at the opportunity for people in Salinas to have more meaningful health care options in
our community," said Salinas Mayor Kimbley Craig. "The opening of Kaiser Permanente in Salinas will certainly benefit not just our residents, but all of Monterey County."

North Monterey County residents will gain access to a local range of medical services that include primary and specialty care, pediatrics, OB/GYN care, mental health care, laboratory, radiology and pharmacy services, according to Kaiser Permanente. The company also said that it offer virtual care capabilities and mail-order pharmacy options.

“We are excited to expand into Monterey County,” said Eric Henry, FACHE, senior vice president and area manager for the Kaiser Permanente Central Coast service area. “Kaiser Permanente will continue our partnerships, investments and support of non-profit organizations to create a strong safety net for those in need.”

The medical office will be located in Salinas at the Boronda Crossing shopping center on 1930 N. Davis Road, the company announced. They also said that services will begin in January 2025 staffed by Kaiser Permanente physicians.

Hospital-based care and services will be offered through Watsonville Community Hospital, which Kaiser Permanente has partnered with since 2017, according to the company.
