    Oil spill in Barber County causing power outages

    BARBER COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) — An oil spill in Barber County Monday is causing power outages.

    “The power is out do to failure of the transformers by the spill site,” Barber County Emergency Management said.

    Southern Pioneer has told Barber County Emergency Management that the power will be out in Hardtner and outside Kiowa until they can get the oil spill under control.

    The Barber County Sheriff’s Office says Kansas Highway 2 west of Kiowa from Northstar Road to Highway 281 is shut down “due to an oil well blowing out across the highway.”

    A video of the spill has been posted to the Barber County Emergency Management Facebook page .
