A Suquamish woman was transported by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle Thursday after her house caught fire, according to a social media post from North Kitsap Fire and Rescue .

Multiple fire agencies responded to the blaze just before 11 a.m., after smoke was seen coming from the single-story home along Harris Avenue.

The woman, who was the only one home at the time, was rescued by two Suquamish Police Officers. One of the officers was taken by ambulance to St. Michael Medical Center in Silverdale as a precaution. The woman’s condition was not immediately available.

Fire crews quickly extinguished the flames. Fire damage was limited, but smoke damage impacted the whole home. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

North Kitsap Fire and Rescue said the woman and her roommate, who was away at the time, are displaced and being assisted by the American Red Cross.
