MAIN STREET/SPRING STREET TRAFFIC SIGNAL SHUT DOWN
KLAMATH FALLS, OR – June 13, 2024. The intersection improvements at Main and East Main have necessitated the shut-down of the traffic signal at Main and Spring Streets. Beginning Monday, June 17, 2024, the traffic signal at Main and Spring Streets will be turned off with temporary stop signs put in place. This intersection will be a three- way stop until approximately July 19, 2024.

Oregon Tech students participate in hands-on animal care as part of pre-vet course
June 12, 2024, KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. — As part of Oregon Tech’s Biology of Companion Animals coursework, students in Assistant Professor Tricia Elliott’s class have worked with baby goats, snakes, lizards, baby quail, and rabbits. Two special events during Spring Term also took them outside the classroom for hands-on care of horses, dogs, and cats.
Main St & E Main St Intersection Construction
The first stages of the project began this week on 6/10/24 with flaggers in place managing traffic flow and lane closures. Beginning June 17, 2024, the Main Street and E Main Street Intersection will be closed for the duration of the project. Included in the intersection closure are Michigan Ave and N. Eldorado Ave. Detours will be in place to direct traffic around the intersection. The estimated project completion date is October 31, 2024. Please take caution while traveling around work zones. Pine Street history tour
KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – A walking history tour of a portion of Pine Street in Klamath Falls will be offered by the Klamath County Museum at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 15. Tour participants are asked to meet at the intersection of Fourth and Pine streets. The walk will cover about three blocks, and last about 45 minutes.
Missing Person Update: New Possible Clues Found in Search for Mr. Severson
UPDATE: Over the weekend of June 1-2, 2024, Search and Rescue volunteers from multiple counties organized a second search in the area where Mr. Severson was last reported being seen in hopes of locating any evidence of Mr. Severson’s whereabouts. The search area was expanded. Mr. Severson was not located however there were several articles of clothing located which had not been discovered in the earlier searches. It has not been determined if the clothing belonged to Mr. Severson, however some of the articles generally appeared to match what he was last observed wearing.
One person injured in late evening commercial fire in Klamath Falls
Klamath County Fire District 1 (KCFD1) was dispatched at 9:55pm last night for smoke in the area of the 1600 block of Oak st in Klamath Falls. The incident rapidly changed to a commercial structure fire with multiple vehicles next to the building burning at the address of 515 Spring St. The first arriving fire engine arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the south side of the structure. The structural integrity of the building was compromised and made it unsafe for fire crews to enter the building. Crews made fire attack from outside the structure with master streams delivery a large amount of water. KCFD1 was assisted by Kingsley Field Fire.
Amazon Announces New Last Mile Sort Facility In Klamath Falls
Klamath Falls, OR (June 5, 2024) – In a joint press release, the Klamath County Economic Development Association (KCEDA), the City of Klamath Falls, and real estate development firm, Pure Development, have announced that a new distribution center will be coming to Klamath Falls. The center will be located along Altamont Drive next to the airport, and is expected to begin construction this summer. Based out of Indianapolis, Pure Development has an extensive history developing facilities across the United States, having a proven portfolio in creating manufacturing spaces, corporate headquarters, and distribution centers. The facility they will be building in Klamath Falls will be operated by Amazon once complete.
Keno Parents Arrested In Connection To Death Of Daughter
On March 30, 2023 deputies responded to 10807 Needle Dam Road in Keno, Oregon on a report of an unresponsive female juvenile. Fallon Murdock (Age: 14) was located unresponsive in a bathtub and surrounded by squalor. She was rushed by ambulance to Sky Lakes Medical Center where she passed away.
Multi-Agency Pursuit ends in crash on Hwy 97 North
On June 1st, 2024, at approximately 2:56 p.m., a patrol officer from the Klamath Falls Police Department (KFPD) attempted to make a traffic stop near Delta St / Pleasant Ave in Klamath Falls after developing probable cause for a felony traffic crime and other traffic violations. The driver failed to yield and as a result, the officer initiated a vehicle pursuit through the neighborhood and eventually onto Lakeshore Drive and heading out of town onto Highway 140 West. The driver had made an abrupt U-turn near the Running Y Resort and continued fleeing from the police back toward town on Lakeshore Drive.
Man arrested after hours long standoff in Ashland involving children hostages
ASHLAND, Ore. – Two children are safe, and a Central Point man is in jail today after Ashland Police Department (APD) responded to a call for a suicidal, potentially armed man taking children hostage in an Ashland apartment last night. The call came into ECSO Dispatch at 5:53 p.m. on Thursday, May 30 with information the man was holding two children, ages 4 and 7, hostage in an apartment in the 300 block of Engle Street in Ashland. After a nearly 7-hour standoff with police, the man is in the Jackson County Jail, and the children are safe.

Bly Mountain Area Homicide Investigation – Investigation Update
On 05/15/24, the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a deceased male identified as Ted Foltz Tipton (age 53). The location was determined to be on Kodiak Lane, (Bly Mountain) Oregon. This location is a rural area approximately 11 miles north of Bonanza, Oregon. The Klamath County Major Crime Team, consisting of investigators from a number of state and local agencies, responded to the area. The investigation is being investigated as a homicide.
Highway 97 closures and detours for summer construction
Six-week closure planned for U.S. 97 over Lakeport Boulevard this summer. A portion of U.S. 97 in Klamath Falls will be fully closed for six weeks beginning Monday July 8. U.S. 97 over Lakeport Boulevard will be fully closed while crews replace the Pelican Bridge as part of the U.S. 97: OR 58-California Border Bridge Retrofits project. The purpose of this project is to improve the seismic resiliency of bridges on U.S. 97 so the highway can continue its role as a primary north-south lifeline route in the aftermath of a major earthquake.
GRADUATION SENSATION 2024 PARADE ROUTE
KLAMATH FALLS, OR – May 28, 2024. To celebrate the success of our Basin graduating Seniors, the Graduation Sensation Parade will take place downtown on May 30, 2024. Parade participants will assemble at Klamath Commons Park and proceed down Main Street to Veterans Park. The parade will begin at 11:50 a.m. and end by 12:30 p.m. Main Street will be closed for at least one hour to accommodate the parade.
