Veteran’s Memorial Spring Brick Order Deadline
A deadline of April 5, 2024, has been set for the Spring Brick Order for bricks dedicated to military veterans to be placed at the Veterans Memorial. The Veterans Memorial Project is a community wide project which honors and recognizes Veterans who have served this nation. The memorial features a pavilion, war monuments and over 5,000 dedicated bricks meant to be a lasting legacy to military individuals. Each brick is a tribute to a military member and their service. Bricks can be ordered for $50 each and dedicated to any United States veteran, regardless of where they live and whether they are living or deceased.

Tragedy Strikes on Hwy 140: Fatal Accident Claims The Life Of A Klamath Falls Resident
Jackson County, Ore. 6 Mar. 24- On Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 5:16 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Hwy 140, near milepost 8, in Jackson County. The preliminary investigation indicated an eastbound Peterbilt CMV and trailer, operated by Ronald R. Lacy (47) of Eagle Point, attempted to make a left turn onto Brownsboro Rd. An eastbound Jeep Compass, operated by Trinity H. Sanchez (24) of Klamath Falls, crossed over the double yellow line in a no-passing zone and attempted to pass the Peterbilt. The Jeep struck the rear of the Peterbilt CMV during the attempted pass.

KCSD schools dismissing 3.5 hours early today
All Klamath County School District schools will dismiss students 3-1/2 hours early today, Feb. 29, 2024, due to inclement weather and the incoming storm system. Buses will arrive at their home drop-off stops 3-1/2 hours earlier than their regular time. Students will not have time to eat lunch before dismissal. Falcon Heights afternoon session is canceled.

The suspect, Justin Ryan Trompeter, 24, of Trail is wanted for two counts of second-degree child neglect, felony fourth-degree domestic violence assault, third-degree robbery, first-degree theft, harassment, and two counts of reckless endangerment.

JACKSONVILLE, Ore. February 16th – Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies rescued an infant and toddler after they were abandoned by a wanted suspect on-the-run this afternoon. The suspect, Justin Ryan Trompeter, 24, of Trail is wanted for fourth-degree domestic violence assault, third-degree robbery, first-degree theft, and reckless endangerment for an incident that occurred February 7 in Shady Cove. Man On Rented Snowmobile Rescued At Crater Lake
On 2-13-24 at 4:30pm, the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to a report of a missing snowmobiler who had become separated from his group while riding in the Crater Lake National Park. The missing man was identified as Eduardo Magana, age 38, from Winchester, Oregon. He was operating a rental snowmobile from the Diamond Lake Resort when he took a wrong turn near the rim of Crater Lake. After several miles of backcountry riding the snowmobile became stuck in the snow and he was unable to free it. On a cell phone,with a dying battery, he spoke to rescuers and advised them he was not dressed for the weather, was cold, and wasn’t sure where he was.

$50,000 Reward Offered For Info On Wolf Deaths In Bly Area
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is seeking information regarding the deaths of three endangered gray wolves east of Bly in southern Oregon. The deaths occurred in an area of known wolf activity, as defined by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW), that stretches across Klamath and Lake counties. The Service is offering a $50,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest, a criminal conviction, or civil penalty assessment.

Klamath County Sheriff’s Office arrest suspect after high-speed crash of pickup
Just after 10:00pm on Tuesday evening (February 6, 2024) a Klamath County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet pickup near the intersection of Freida and Derby Street. The vehicle fled at a high rate of speed. Moments later at the intersection of Madison Street and South 6th Street, the fleeing driver entered the intersection (southbound) at a high speed against a red-light signal and was struck by a westbound Ford Explorer which had the right of way.
Klamath Falls Man Arrested With Large Amount Of Fentanyl
On Wednesday, February 7, 2024, members of the Basin Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team (BINET), arrested Klamath Falls resident Aaron Ronald MORGAN (44), regarding MORGAN distributing Fentanyl in Klamath Falls since 2023. On November 17, 2023, BINET investigators learned MORGAN was bringing a large quantity of Fentanyl into Klamath Falls to sell. BINET investigators apprehended MORGAN when he arrived in Klamath Falls and subsequently seized approximately eleven (11) ounces of Fentanyl. MORGAN was lodged at the Klamath County Jail for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance – Fentanyl, and Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance – Fentanyl. On December 17, 2023, MORGAN was released from jail after posting bail.
Klamath County Search and Rescue unit successfully rescues missing hiker
Just after 5:00pm on January 31, 2024, the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a missing hiker in the area of Hogback Mountain near Foothills Boulevard. A 911 caller had been separated from his hiking companion and reported that the missing hiker, a 40-year old female wearing light clothing, had not returned and was more than an hour overdue.
