Winning Sculpture Announced for 9th Annual Ring Out for Art Contest
The winner of the 9th Annual Ring Out for Art contest in Jefferson was recently announced. According to the Tower View Team, this year’s People’s Choice Award winner was the sculpture “Bloom” by Zach Bowman of Ankeny. As the People’s Choice Award recipient, Bowman will receive an additional $500 cash prize, sponsored by Home State Bank. The sculpture will also remain on the Bell Tower Plaza through May of 2025. The other sculptures will be removed in October.

Hawkeyes’ defensive plan: Be even better this season
Iowa linebacker Jay Higgins was the first one to decide to skip the NFL draft and come back for another season. And then he waited for his defensive teammates to follow him. “Being a good recruiter that I am, I took those guys out to dinner, I sat them down,” Higgins said during the Hawkeyes’ media day. “When I posted I was coming back, I thought they would respond a little bit faster, so I got a little nervous that they waited until after the bowl game to say they were coming back.”
