“I got married. I’m now by myself. I’m a widow,” Carrier said.

Carrier had three children. Now, she’s a grandmother and great grandmother.

“I have six grand-children,” she said. “I have nine great but one 3-year-old got killed five years ago in a tractor accident. So, I have eight now.”

Carrier had a brother who was killed about 13, 14 years ago. She is a twin.

“My mother did not know that she was having twins until the one who delivered us said you have another one,” Carrier said.

Recently, she broke her hip in the unlikely of places.

“I broke my hip cleaning the church,” Carrier said. “I missed a step and as soon as I fell, I knew I broke my hip.”

Hilda said the surgeon who did the surgery gave her a glimmer of hope.

“He said you will be doing the same things you were doing before,” Carrier said while laughing. “I don’t think I will.”

Another spark of hope comes from those who spend time with her day-in and day-out.

“If it wouldn’t have been my friends, my neighbors and my kids I wouldn’t have made it,” Carrier said.

During her work years, Carrier worked at a drug store.  She did that for 49 years.

“I did not miss one day of sick leave in 49 years,” she noted.

News 10 asked Carrier if there was something she did not get to do in life.

“I wanted to go on a cruise but my kids went and they didn’t want to go back,” she said. “So, I forgot about the cruise.”

Carrier said love one another and get along.

“Don’t hate anybody,” Carrier said. “Just forgive.  If they hurt you, just forgive them,” Carrier said.
