CHURCH POINT, La. ( KLFY )– A truck was stolen from a Church Point woman’s driveway early Friday morning.

Hiedi Matte’s brother’s truck was stolen out of their driveway around 2:30 a.m. Friday. A neighbor found the truck and another stolen vehicle at an abandoned house on Ed Thibodeaux Rd. on Sunday.

“Nothing was stolen out of it,” Matte said. “The other vehicle that was actually found with it, she did have a whole other lady’s purse and a whole different set of keys that didn’t belong to neither one of them.”

A recent increase in vehicle burglaries around Church Point is leaving people feeling uneasy.

“Very uneasy. I was kind of out late Saturday for a birthday party, and the whole time once I got home and walking into my house, it was just sketchy because it was around the same time that they had broken in,” Matte said. “I just kept watching my back and turning around. Like, are they going to come and take my keys?”

Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office is seeing more vehicle break-ins when people leave their keys inside unlocked vehicles.

Sheriff KP Gibson says to remove anything valuable from your vehicle, including your keys, and lock it.

This is still an active investigation. If you have any information, contact Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office.
