ST. LANDRY PARISH, La. ( KLFY ) — A St. Landry Parish man was arrested on charges of shooting at a truck with four young people who were driving close to his property, one of whom was hit, according to police.

Carroll Soileau Jr., 38, of Washington, is charged with aggravated assault with a firearm and aggravated second-degree battery.

St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office was notified of a shooting on Sunday near Pointe Verte Road and the Grand Prairie Highway in the Washington area.

The four youths were speeding down the gravel road and “spinning donuts” in the field close to Soileau’s home, authorities said. Soileau shined a light at the truck twice and, on the third time, shot at the vehicle. One of the youths in the truck was shot in the leg, authorities said.

The person who was injured was taken to a hospital for treatment. Their condition was not released.

Soileau was arrested Sunday and taken to the St. Landry Parish Jail. His bond is set at $30,000.
