    Opelousas Junior High student taken out of class after brandishing a knife, officials say

    OPELOUSAS, La. ( KLFY ) — A student at Opelousas Junior High was removed from a classroom this morning after brandishing a knife, officials said.

    St. Landry Parish Superintendent Milton Batiste III confirmed that an unidentified student showed a knife in a classroom. The school resource officer then entered the classroom, took the knife away from the student and led them out of the classroom.

    No injuries were reported.

    The student could face expulsion for brandishing a weapon in school.

    No other information has been released. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
