LAFAYETTE, La. ( KLFY ) — While a criminal investigation is underway against two nursing home employees who are accused of abusing an elderly patient , its unclear if the Louisiana Department of Health is investigating the nursing facility.

KLFY News 10 has reached out to the Department of Health, but has not yet received a response. This report will be updated when information becomes available.

If you or someone you know is experiencing elderly abuse in a nursing facility, below is information on how to report the abuse and how to file a complaint against the facility.

How to report elder abuse

Below are the ways you can report elder abuse through the Louisiana Department of Health .

• Call the Adult Protective Services (APS) hotline at 1-800-898-4910
• Call Elderly Protective Services, for victims aged 60 and older, at 1-833-577-6532 or 225-342-0144
• Reports can also be made using the APS online reporting form, found HERE
• If you witness a life-threatening situation involving an adult with disabilities, call 911 immediately

How to file a complaint against a nursing facility

• Call the Nursing Home Complaint Hotline at 1-(888)-810-1819
• Fill out a complaint form, found HERE , and email it to HSSComplaints@LA.GOV
