EVANGELINE PARISH, La. ( KLFY ) — The family of a 31-year-old Carencro man is looking for answers after his car was found, but their loved one vanished.

Pierce Pitre, 31, has been missing since his car ran out of gas in Swords on Aug. 5, according to family members.

His sister, Gabrielle Pitre, said it has been difficult for the family since Pierce’s disappearance, but they are hopeful for a positive outcome.

“It’s been hard. We’re just trying to stay positive for a positive outcome, hoping for the best but we’re just taking it day by day is all we can do. Because, I mean, there’s only so much that we can do. Missing him. Just want him home safe,” Gabrielle said.

The sister recalled last talking to her brother as he told her his car ran out of gas.

“He needed me to pick him up but I couldn’t. I was on my way to work. I mean, I had just started his job. I couldn’t just call and say, I can’t come in,” she said.

Gabrielle said she tried calling her brother again, but his phone died and has been off since he went missing.

Gabrielle said her brother is a very loving and caring person, and who wouldn’t go this long without contacting family.

“It’s not like him not to get in touch with us for this long at all. He has a son that he loves very much. He loves his family a lot. It is just not like him,” she said.

“He cares a lot. It’s just that he’s a great brother. It’s not like him not to get in touch with somebody, especially his son,” she continued. Pierce’s son is 3 years old.

Pierce was last known to be walking, wearing a black t-shirt and jeans. His last known location is L’Anse Bourbeuse Road, which is on the St. Landry-Evangeline parish line.

Gabrielle said she wants her brother to know they love him and want him to come home safely.

The family thanks everyone who has been sharing and supporting the case.

“We couldn’t do it without a community. We need the community’s help,” she said.

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation. It was first handled by the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office.
