    Chicago mayor quotes former LSU basketball star Angel Reese after Democratic National Convention

    BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The mayor of Chicago used a phrase by former LSU basketball star Angel Reese towards those who doubted if the city was ready to host the Democratic National Convention.

    The DNC was held from Aug. 19 to Aug. 22. It featured many highlights, including Kamala Harris accepting the party’s presidential nomination .

    Brandon Johnson, the mayor of Chicago, took time to thank the city for a successful convention during a press conference. He mentioned a phrase used by Reese responding to those who didn’t think the city was ready to host the convention.

    “In the words of Skytown’s own Angel Reese, ‘What they gonna say now?’ What they gonna say now?” said Johnson.

    Reese repeatedly said, “What they gonna say now?” in a video after winning the game.

    Reese was drafted by the Chicago Sky with the seventh overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft.
