ST. MARY PARISH, La. ( KLFY ) — Two 14-year-old boys are facing charges in connection with multiple vehicle burglaries in the Bayou Vista area, according to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office .

The sheriff’s office said the boys, both of Bayou Vista, were arrested Sunday morning and charged with the following:

    • 10 counts of burglary from a vehicle
    • two counts of theft of a firearm
    • two counts of illegal possession of stolen firearms
    • possession of stolen things
    • two counts of illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile
    • theft of a motor vehicle
    • unauthorized use of a motor vehicle
    • driver must be licensed

On Sunday, authorities said a parent reported that her son and his friend may have committed several vehicle burglaries in the Bayou Vista area.

A deputy met with the complainant and the mother of the other boy who said she had evidence showing her son and the friend had possibly committed the crimes, authorities said.

The two juveniles claim they broke into “at least 25 vehicles” in the area, authorities said.

“Through the investigation, the deputies retrieved stolen property and other evidence,” the sheriff’s office said.
