    Louisiana National Guard says it’s ready for Hurricane Francine response

    LOUISIANA ( KLFY ) — The Louisiana National Guard says it has more than 2,300 guardsmen ready to support hurricane-related operations.

    In a news release, the guard said it is prepared to help with high-water vehicle and boat evacuations, both boat and air search and rescue operations, logistical support, engineering support, levee inspection/security, and more.

    Guardsmen have been deploying to parishes across Louisiana since Monday.

    The guard said it has 379 high-water vehicles and 87 boats prepared to provide evacuation, search and rescue and recon support. The guard is also leading a joint aviation effort of 61 aircraft to help with search and rescue operations.

    The guard has pre-staged 14 route clearance teams across seven parishes to assist with debris removal and clearing of roads after the storm, according to the news release.

    To provide support to citizens after the storm, guardsmen have placed 1.1 million liters of water, 1 million MREs, more than 416,000 sandbags and 55,000 tarps for potential distribution.
