MORGAN CITY, La. ( KLFY ) — Residents of Morgan City get to feel closer to back to normal after the curfew imposed after the arrival of Hurricane Francine has been lifted.

Police Chief Chad M. Adams and Mayor Lee Dragna announced in a news release Saturday that the curfew that had been set by the City of Morgan City due to Hurricane Francine will no longer continue.

“City Crews and Contractors have been able to restore power to the majority of the city and already have boots on the ground working in other areas that need restoration,” the joint release read. “We ask that everyone be patient, as these crews have been working tirelessly over the past few days during these recovery efforts.”

As of 2 p.m. Saturday, only 104 power outages were reported in St. Mary Parish.

The St. Mary Parish-wide curfew was already lifted for unincorporated parts of the parish Friday afternoon.

The city also announced that the distribution of food, water and tarps being coordinated by the Louisiana National Guard will close today at 5 p.m.

“Today will be the last day of the Point of Distribution,” officials said. “Residents are urged to reach out to other sources available that are in need of assistance. That list can be viewed on our Facebook Page or our website at www.morgancitypolice.org .”
