EVANGELINE PARISH, La. ( KLFY ) — A 19-year-old woman was killed and three others were injured in two Ville Platte shootings on Saturday. It is unclear at this time if the shootings are connected, according to police.

Ville Platte Police Chief A. Perry Thomas said the first shooting was reported around 12:45 p.m. at the Parkview Apartments on Dupre Street.

That shooting resulted in the injury of a 25-year-old man. Thomas said the victim was taken to an area hospital and is in stable condition.

The second shooting occurred around 9:15 p.m. near the intersection of Huey P. Long and Reed Street, the police chief said.

Three people were shot inside their vehicle. One passenger, a 19-year-old woman, died from her injuries. The driver, a 26-year-old man, and another passenger, a 27-year-old man, were taken to an area hospital for treatment. The police chief said the two male victims of this shooting are in stable condition.

“At this time, it is not known if the two shootings are connected,” Thomas said.

Anyone with information about the shootings is urged to contact Ville Platte Police Department dispatch at 337-363-1313. All calls will remain anonymous.
