Storm Team 10 and the National Hurricane Center will be monitoring the western Caribbean Sea for tropical development in the coming days. Currently there is no activity in that region but a broad area of low pressure could start to form over this weekend. The NHC has a 20% chance for tropical development in the next 7 days.

Models are suggesting that the potential low will lift northward next week into the eastern Gulf of Mexico where further organization and strengthening may occur. Impacts to the U.S. are unknown at this time as the uncertainty in the forecast is extremely high. There is still a possibility this disturbance will never form.

The next name on the list is Helene (heh-LEEN).
