LAFAYETTE, La. ( KLFY ) — A Carencro man was arrested Wednesday in connection with the murder of his father in 2020, authorities said.

Leeland Bryce Valliere, 33, of Carencro, is charged with second-degree murder in connection with the murder of his father, Joseph Vallian, in 2020. Valliere was arrested on a warrant by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday.

According to a news release Thursday, the following suspects were also arrested in connection with the crime:

    • Rasheed Omar Zachary, 31, of Opelousas, charged with second-degree murder
    • Dennis Patrick Guillory Jr., 35, of Church Point, charged with second-degree murder
    • Lester Ray Johnson, 32, of Opelousas, charged with second-degree murder

The sheriff’s office said Desmond Demond Richard, 33, of Opelousas, is wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant for one count of second-degree murder.

Anyone with information on Richard’s whereabouts is asked to contact the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office at 337-948-6516 or call Crime Stoppers at 337-948-TIPS.

Vallian was killed in Lawtell in September 2020 . Vallian’s body was discovered after an investigation into an incident in the 400 block of McClellan Street. An autopsy showed Vallian’s cause of death to be blunt force trauma.

Valliere and five others were indicted in the incident in August.
