    Acadian Ambulance sending teams to help Helene victims

    LAFAYETTE, La. ( KLFY ) — Hurricane Helene is wreaking havoc on Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas , and Acadian Ambulance is on the way.

    According to a post on the company’s Facebook page , Acadian Ambulance has a deployed a strike team with 30 ambulances and 62 crew members to support EMS response following Hurricane Helene’s landfall.

    “Our thoughts are with all those in Helene’s path as they face the recovery process,” the post reads. “We thank our crew members for stepping up to support the strike team mission and help our neighbors to the east.”

    Hurricane Helene crashed into Florida’s sparsely populated Big Bend region Thursday, bringing storm surge and high winds across the state’s Gulf Coast communities before ripping into southern Georgia. Evacuations were underway Friday morning in areas of Western North Carolina.

    The team will be initially stationed in South Carolina to receive further mission deployments.
