UPDATE, 9/27/24, 2:37 p.m.: The Lafayette Police Department said 36-year-old Walter Alexander was arrested in connection with the incident and taken into custody by FBI agents.

ORIGINAL: LAFAYETTE, La. ( KLFY ) — KLFY is on the scene of an attempted bank robbery in Lafayette this morning.

Lafayette Police said multiple suspects attempted to rob the Home Bank at the corner of Johnston and Jefferson streets in Lafayette just after 9 a.m. today. Police said the suspects fled the location but were later apprehended by patrol officers.

The incident is still being investigated by detectives with Lafayette Police Department.
