CANKTON, La. ( KLFY ) — A 17-year-old from Carencro has been arrested and a 16-year-old is still at large after a shooting in Cankton over the weekend, authorities said.

Aiden Ray Carriere, 17, of Carencro, is charged with two counts of accessory to attempted second-degree murder after a reported disagreement involving an exchange of a vape.

Officials said Carriere and a 16-year-old, also from Carencro, were scheduled to meet Saturday with three 15-year-olds from Cankton at Landon Pitre Memorial Park after agreeing to an exchange of vape apparatus via social media.

For reasons still under investigation, the 16-year-old passenger in the car Carriere was driving got out of the vehicle, brandished a 9mm pistol and fired 10 shots at the three Cankton teens, hitting one of them in the arm.
