IBERIA PARISH, La. ( KLFY ) — The new Loureauville Town Hall project has officially begun.

Architect David Allain said the new structure will bring a fresh look while keeping the traditional feeling of the surrounding area.

“We wanted to utilize as much of the vernacular architecture that represented the village of Loreauville,” Allain said. “We looked at all the historic homes and structures around the area and we wanted something that blended and fitted with the community.”

According to Loreauville Mayor Brad Clifton, funds through capital outlay were collected for the $1.5 million project.

The new building will include offices for the mayor, clerk, and sheriff. Council chambers will also be a part of the two-story building.

Clifton said Town Hall makes the first impression on visitors.

The building will be about 4,000 square feet and will include an elevator with enough space to allow business to flow.

Construction is expected to be completed in 12 to 16 months.
