FRANKLIN, La. ( KLFY ) — Franklin Police are investigating the identity of human skeletal remains found this morning near a business in Franklin.

The bones were found on private property near the corner of Main and Hanson streets at about 9 a.m. Friday. Authorities said the remains were found in a hole behind a former wholesale gas building as employees of a lawn care service were cutting the grass.

Cedric Handy, Franklin Chief of Police, said they will release more information when forensic results become available.

“The investigation is ongoing,” Chief Handy said. “If there’s any reports of missing loved ones within the area within the past 30 days, please give us a call and give us some information.”
