SCOTT, La. ( KLFY ) — This weekend, you can make a difference in the life of a local who is battling cancer.

On Saturday, the organization Save the Ta-Ta’s will host an event in Scott. The event proceeds support Miles Perret Cancer Services and a courageous person with cancer.

Eilean Begnaud, of Vatican, went two years breast cancer-free.

“It will help pay off the bills and I’m excited because it’s hard. It’s hard,” Begnaud said.

Begnaud had both breasts removed, but the cancer came back.

“Yeah, she got bone cancer now,” said Stella Richard, Begnaud’s mother.

Richard, who’s been there for her daughter every step of the way, said the cancer first came back in her daughter’s hip bones and moved on from there.

“Then she got it in the back of her stomach and then her liver. Her new treatment has shrunk the one in the back of her stomach and her liver,” Richard said.

All the while, the medical bills racked up.  Eilean is grateful for being chosen to receive help from the breast cancer awareness ride and event.

“It’s going to help a lot,” Begnaud said.

Save the Ta-Ta’s breast cancer awareness ride and event is on Saturday, Oct. 19th in Scott at Cajun Harley Davidson.

Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. The cost is $30 per ride, $5 per passenger.

The ride is open to all bikes, Jeeps, trucks, and cars.
