TEMPLE, Texas ( FOX 44 ) – The City of Temple continues to update the community on actions to take amid tornado cleanup.

All city facilities will reopen on Tuesday, May 28, for regular hours of operation. Splash pads will reopen on Wednesday, May 29.

The City of Temple is encouraging all individuals in Bell County affected by the May 22 tornadoes to report their damages online on the Individual State of Texas Assessment Tool (iSTAT) . Any losses of food due to the power outage can also be included. For more information about the survey, you can watch the video below.

The city says that in order to get federal funding and additional resources, Bell County needs to meet a certain threshold of damage for this event to be declared a disaster by the State.

D&J Enterprises is also scheduled to begin brush clean-up this week. Brush piles need to be kept separate from construction and demolition materials, and placed on the curb for pickup. If they are combined, they will not be collected.

Brush piles will not be picked up from alleys. Residents are asked to be patient as D&J makes its way across the city.

City brush and bulk crews are working in conjunction with D&J collection to also collect curbside brush and bulk. Due to the storm, collection could be delayed. Information will be posted to templetx.gov/solidwaste with updates on maps and area schedules.

If you want to dispose of your own brush, the city will begin operating a brush pile collection center this Tuesday at the Solid Waste Complex, located at 2611 E Avenue H, from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The City of Temple’s Solid Waste Division is caught up in garbage collection. Residents should put their garbage bins on the curb on their scheduled pick-up day. The city says to please leave the bin out until it is collected, and to expect delays. Recycling pick-up is suspended until further notice in order to focus on garbage collection.

The city is also raising awareness of scammers, saying it has not given any vendors the right to use its name and logo. The only outside service the City of Temple has partnered with is D&J Enterprises for emergency debris clean-up. To learn more about potential disaster scams, or to report a scam, you can visit the Texas Attorney General website .
