New 3D printed homes for more affordable living

SAN ANGELO, Texas ( Concho Valley Homepage ) — The newest technology for home construction is the use of 3D-printed walls.

Construction companies are now using 3D printers that use a concrete mix to build the walls of homes. The only aspect of the 3D houses printed are just the walls. Construction company Icon claims it is cheaper, faster and makes less waste building homes this way.

Senior Project Manager, Conner Jenkins, states “Where there were 5 crews to build a wall system, now it’s one crew and one machine.”

These homes are more sustainable to weather conditions, and more energy efficient but have trouble with Wi-Fi traveling through the concrete mixed walls.
