Miles brings mixture of youth and experience in 2024 lineup

Fifth-year Bulldogs Head Coach Jayson Wilhelm returns 17 starters in 2024… notably two-way athlete Cooper Ellison.

Ellison, a cornerback, was named this year’s Preseason Defensive MVP for District 7-2A Division II. He also leads a strong receiving core on the flip side, primarily consisting of three and four-year starters.

On the younger side, the Bulldogs are rolling with sophomore quarterback Liam Yancy in 2024. Yancy’s performance at the 7-on-7 State Tournament in June gave his teammates and coaches full confidence in guiding the offense.

“He can make every throw. He’s got a good arm. At 7-on7 he proved it, and I’m just ready to see him do it in the first game,” Ellison said.

Miles kicks off the 2024 season at Sonora on Friday, the first matchup between the two teams since 1947.
