TEXAS (KAMR/KCIT) – A Texas-based YouTuber with nearly 10 million subscribers recently reviewed and ranked breakfasts from across the nation, including from Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma.

Joshua Weissman is a chef who has been cooking since he was three . He also has a devoted following across social media, as well as a cookbook, “ Texture Over Taste .”

Weissman and two of his friends took audience suggestions for iconic breakfasts from all 50 states to find the best in America, ranking them on a scale of “S” being the best and “F” being the worst.

For the Lone Star State, where Weissman and his friends currently live, his audience chose Breakfast Tacos as the most iconic Texas breakfast. While the Breakfast Taco can be found in many combinations, they usually require eggs, cheese and a flour or corn tortilla with a person’s choice of other additions.

Wildflowers, ‘money’ and BBQ: What should be the state smell of Texas?

“This is very dependent on where you go to get it,” commented Weissman, who noted that the quality of a Breakfast Taco often depends on a person’s preference and the quality of the ingredients.

Variability all considered, the Breakfast Taco was a reliable “breakfast standard” for Weissman and his friends, who put the Texas staple in the “A” tier.

Weissman’s audience chose Huevos Rancheros for the New Mexico breakfast entry, which beat out the Green Chile Breakfast Burrito by only a single poll vote. Huevos Rancheros is a southwest breakfast often created with charred corn tortillas, pinto beans, sunny-side-up eggs, chili sauce and cheese.

“I am a big fan of this,” said Weissman, “That’s all I’ll say.”

However, despite Weissman and his friends putting forth glowing reviews of Huevos Rancheros, it remained in the “A” tier instead of breaking through to the very top of the list.

Chicken Fried Steak – tenderized steak marinated, breaded, deep-fried and smothered in gravy in a strikingly similar way to chicken – is both self-explanatory and the favored choice of Weissman’s audience members for Oklahoma breakfasts.

“Oklahoma is the land of beef, did you know that?” noted Weissman, with the aside, “I think Texas is the better land of beef, but we won’t talk about that.”

“Every time I’ve had Chicken Fried Steak, there’s two parts of my brain: One part of my brain is like ‘That’s pretty good’… but there’s another part of my brain that’s like ‘This is the best thing ever’,” said Weissman, though his friends were far less enthused about the Oklahoma breakfast than the others of the High Plains, settling it into the “B” tier.

Altogether, no state breakfasts made it into the “F” tier for Weissman and his friends. However, five states were graded in the “D” tier: Delaware (Scrapple), Wyoming (Chokeberry Preserves), Massachusetts (Dunkin’), Missouri (The Slinger) and Florida (Cuban Breakfast).

Meanwhile, seven states made it into the group’s “S” tier: Montana (Cinnamon Roll), North Dakota (Monkey Bread), Georgia (Chicken Biscuit), Hawaii (Loco Moco), Chilaquiles (Arizona), Maryland (Crab Cake Eggs Benedict) and Pennsylvania (Grilled Sticky).

After ranking the S-tier items, the best of the best was Pennsylvania with the Grilled Sticky, followed by Arizona and then Maryland.
