Veribest falls short in home opener versus Zephyr

SAN ANGELO, Texas ( Concho Valley Homepage ) — Click the video above for Veribest Falcons week one highlights.

The Veribest Falcons narrowly lost their week one matchup against the Zephyr Bulldogs by a score of 29-27.

Both teams entered the new season following strong 2023 records. Zephyr went 7-3 overall while Veribest missed the playoffs despite finishing 8-2.

Veribest drew first blood on Friday, going ahead 6-0 in the first quarter before Zephyr quickly responded to tie the game. The game was tied at halftime at 14 apiece before Zephyr pulled ahead 22-14 in the third quarter.

Zephyr held on for the victory… beginning its season 1-0 on the road.

Veribest resumes action at home versus the Santa Anna Mountaineers on Friday, September 6.
