Meet Clifton High School’s alleged first female football player

Clifton, TX ( FOX 44 ) — Lenora busby is a senior offensive lineman on the varsity football team.

Lenora grew up in a football household and knew the game very well, she’s been playing since the third grade.

“They sent home a flyer in the third grade to play football or cheer, and I decided I wanted to play football for that year,” says football player, Lenora Busby.

The dedication, discipline and hard work paid off in the long haul.

“I was on J.V., and then my sophomore year, the varsity team made playoffs. I got moved up, so I was pretty excited about that because it showed me that my hard work had paid off,” says Busby.

Lenora says at first the boys would take it easy on her but after seeing what she is capable of it was game on!

“Now that I’ve grown friendships in the game, there’s certain boys that’ll go tougher on me because they know I can take it,” says Busby.

Head football coach Brent Finney says, Lenora is a joy to coach and a joy to watch her grow and improve in her passion.

“She’s always been a fierce competitor, and she’s the kind of kid that you aspire all your athletes to be. She makes your job easy because she’s so dedicated and disciplined person,” says head coach, Brent Finney.

Lenora wants to attend Hardin Simmons University and major in biology while being on the track team.

“I’m just another player now because I’ve been playing with all with all them for so long. So, I’m just another one of the boys,” says Busby.
