    ASU releases fall planetarium schedule

    SAN ANGELO, Texas ( Concho Valley Homepage ) — With a new college semester comes a new lineup of shows at the Angelo State University Planetarium. From stars and black holes to butterflies and the adventures of Lewis and Clark, here’s the planetarium’s schedule for fall 2024.

    According to ASU, 17 full-dome public astronomy shows will be played during the fall semester, including two new shows and the “Season of Light” holiday program. The shows will be screened weekly on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7 p.m. through Dec. 5 with a few breaks in the schedule, including for Thanksgiving.

    ASU awarded ‘Best College’ recognition for 16th year by Princeton Review

    All the shows are open to the public, with admission prices of $3 for adults and $2 for children, active military and senior citizens. Angelo State students, faculty and staff are admitted free.

    The ASU Planetarium is located in the Vincent Building at 2333 Vanderventer Ave.

    The fall planetarium show schedule is as follows:

    • Wednesday, Sept. 11 – Astronomy: 3,000 Years of Stargazing*
    • Thursday, Sept. 12 – Forces of Nature
    • Wednesday, Sept. 18 – Faster Than Light: The Dream of Interstellar Flight
    • Thursday, Sept. 19 – Exoplanets: Discovering New Worlds*
    • Wednesday, Sept. 25 – Stars: The Powerhouses of the Universe
    • Thursday, Sept. 26 – Black Holes: The Other Side of Infinity
    • Wednesday, Oct. 2 – From Earth to the Universe
    • Thursday, Oct. 3 – First and Farthest
    • Wednesday, Oct. 9 – Lewis & Clark: Great Journey West
    • Thursday, Oct. 10 – Birth of Planet Earth
    • Wednesday, Oct. 16 – Expedition Reef*
    • Thursday, Oct. 17 – The Cowboy Astronomer
    • Wednesday, Oct. 30 – Flight of the Butterflies**
    • Thursday, Oct. 31 – Super Volcanoes
    • Wednesday, Nov. 6 – Backyard Wilderness**
    • Thursday, Nov. 7 – One Sky Project
    • Wednesday, Nov. 20 – Season of Light
    • Thursday, Nov. 21 – Season of Light
    • Wednesday, Dec. 4 – Season of Light
    • Thursday, Dec. 5 – Season of Light

    * Purchase of these shows was funded through ASU’s Hispanic Serving Institution-Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics grant from the U.S. Department of Education.

    ** Purchase of these two brand new shows was funded through a grant from the Safari Club.
