SAN ANGELO, Texas ( Concho Valley Homepage ) —The Tom Green County Commissioners approved a $600,000 project to improve flood drainage systems across the county on Sept. 10.

Judge Lane Carter noted, “We saw some significant flooding issues that you don’t see that you won’t know where they are until you see that amount of rainfall so we had an agenda item today to allocate $600,000 out of our ARPA funding, the American Rescue Plan Act, that we had remaining to look at with engineering services key areas.”

The American Rescue Plan Act federal stimulus funds are subject to strict regulations, requiring that local and county governments designate and spend the funds by the end of 2026.

This decision follows a recent incident in which five people required rescue due to severe flooding in the northeastern part of the country.
