SAN ANGELO, Texas ( Concho Valley Homepage ) — The United States Geological Survey reported that a 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck Ackerly, Texas, during the evening of Sept. 16.

According to the USGS’s entry for the earthquake, the seismic activity occurred at approximately 7:49 p.m. in an area west-southwest of Ackerly. The earthquake spanned an estimated 34 kilometers and was 8.8 kilometers deep.

The earthquake has an assigned “green” alert for fatalities and economic losses as of the time of publication, meaning that “there is a low likelihood of casualties and damage,” according to the USGS.

USGS noted in the Community Internet Intensity Map that it was a level VI at the time of this report, meaning that people are reporting strong shaking but light damage.

Honestly, I didn't feel a thing and I live in San Angelo and I didn't feel the one before this one. I'm not saying that it didn't affect San Angelo but since I didn't feel the earthquake I have a hard time believing others felt it.🤔
