LUBBOCK, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – Texas Tech Athletics will recognize its energy partners Saturday afternoon when the Red Raiders host Arizona State in the inaugural Raider Power game inside Jones AT&T Stadium.

Much like its popular chant, Texas Tech will split the stadium in half, encouraging the west side to wear black and the east side to wear red as part of the Raider Power promotion.

The Raider Power promotion will feature several of Texas Tech’s partners in the energy industry with Permian Basin ties, including Double Eagle, Agri-Empresa Companies, Halliburton, Mewbourne Oil Company, ProPetro Services and the Texas Oil and Gas Association Workers’ Comp. Safety Group. Each group will be honored during the game for its contributions to Texas Tech Athletics.

“West Texas and the Permian Basin are home to so many of the world’s most important resources, namely in the oil and gas and energy industries,” Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt said. “We look forward to recognizing many of our partners in the energy industry Saturday for their continued partnership with Texas Tech Athletics and their work supplying the world.”

The Red Raiders kick off against Arizona State in their Big 12 opener Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
